This is an exciting opportunity for Human Resources Specialists to assist an important NYC public agency in Employee Compliance and Talent Acquisition areas. Applicants should have broad experience in HR, including Recruitment, Compliance, Labor Relations, Labor Law, etc. High-stress position helping an agency that provides vital services to people in need.

Lower Manhattan worksite, hours 9am to 5pm

Duties to include performing a variety of human resources activities up to but not limited to:

  • Perform a number of human resources activities up to but not limited to:
  • Managing and handling employee benefits, recruiting, interviewing or hiring of staff in accordance with policy
  • Aide the company's effective utilization of employees by providing training and development opportunities
  • Assist employees with and helps resolve work related issues such as leave and disputes

  • Participate in fingerprinting new and current staff

  • Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, photocopy and conduct employment verifications
  • Update any tracker system in order to properly keep tracking of any verifications of employments, background checks or processes for new hires
  • Act as a recruitment resource to hiring manager(s), design and recommend proven recruiting strategies which support the development of a diverse, qualified candidate pool
  • Engage in creative sourcing to include: direct recruiting, referral sourcing, job boards, professional associations, schools, targeted emails, community based organizations, social networking both internally and externally
  • Report on search progress including: candidate pipelines, and diversity initiatives
  • Deliver results with minimal supervision, and effectively manage multiple projects
  • Conduct and review all documentation, process State Central Registry (SCR) clearance forms, and all official forms presented by candidates in conjunction with these actions

What you need to have

Skills
  • Must have the ability to utilize HRIS software, such as Silkroad, PeopleSoft, or equivalents. Prior knowledge is not required
  • Knowledge and understanding of general office software, such as Word, Excel, or equivalents.
Prior experience & qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling 6 years
