Location: Astoria, Queens

Wage: Based on experience ($95k-125k/year)

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects as planned. Will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Duties include:

  • Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner
  • Acting as liaison with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Setting and managing project expectations with team members and stakeholders
  • Planning and scheduling project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Tracking project milestones and deliverables
  • Determining the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzing results, and troubleshooting problem areas
  • Defining project success criteria and disseminating to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Conducting project post mortems and creating a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Developing best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Estimating resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Drafting and submitting budget proposals, and recommending changes where necessary
  • Determining and assessing need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary
  • Directing and managing project development from beginning to end
  • Developing full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Delegating tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans
  • Coaching, mentoring, motivating and supervising project team members and contractors to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Building, developing, and growing any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

What you need to have

  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet or Jira
  • Familiar with programming languages, including Java and C#
  • Competent and proficient understanding of platforms, such as POS, ERP, etc
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL, Windows 7/2008 and higher
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Flexible during times of change
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
  • Ability to defuse tension among project team members, should it arise
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating: able to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity and tenacity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills are an asset
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
Prior experience & qualifications
  • Must have a university degree or college diploma in the field of Business Management
  • 5 or more years direct work experience in a fast-paced IT project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Certifications in Project Management
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Overtime may be required in meet project deadlines
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meetings
