Job description

Experienced individual needed to serve as labor law compliance officer for the department. Duties will include but may not be limited to:

  • Examining, evaluating, and investigating conformity with laws and regulations governing contract compliance of licenses and permits and other compliance and enforcement inspection activities not classified elsewhere
  • Conducting site visits to jobsites to ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Investigating prevailing wage cases and assisting government agencies with labor law compliance cases
  • Under supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment to: conduct interviews with contractors and perform professional investigations of ordinary difficulty designed to prevent/detect violations of City and State prevailing wage laws
  • Assemble/verify data and/or collection of evidence on prevailing wage employees hired for contract work
  • Examine and analyze records and documents including invoices submitted by contractors for payments
  • Prepare written and statistical reports and report results of interviews
  • Utilize computer systems to assist in the processing of investigations
  • Testify at hearings and in court proceedings
  • Make on-site field visits and may perform surveillance
  • Perform other related duties as needed

What you need to have

Skills
  • Prior knowledge of and familiarity with labor law is a strong plus
  • Investigative skills are a strong plus
  • Computer knowledge and experience required
Prior experience & qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related experience is required
  • Law enforcement background is ideally suited to this position
  • A post-secondary vocational award is highly preferred
