Locations: Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan & Queens, NY (Must be able to travel throughout these boroughs)

Hours: (Available shifts: 11:00pm to 8:00am)

WORK HOURS: 5 days per week Monday – Friday, 7am-4pm or Monday – Friday, 3pm – 12am or Sunday – Thursday, 11pm – 8 am

Seeking temporary staff to identify and count the number of commuters and homeless individuals within the subway transit system. Assist in building a dataset that will help capture the number of homeless in the New York City subway system.

Duties include:

  • Accurate data collection at assigned stations
  • Accurate data collection of individuals on trains at assigned end of the line stations
  • Surveys and interviews of MTA Staff
  • Will receive and be responsible for an MTA Transit Access Card

Skills
  • Must be extremely reliable
  • Willing to work a flexible work schedule
  • Basic reading and arithmetic skills
  • Must be able to interpret a train schedule and follow directions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A neat appearance and professional demeanor
  • Must be able to work quickly, quietly, accurately, and in an organized manner
  • Must Be Tech Savvy with the ability to use an iPad and navigate through Apple/Android apps
  • Be familiar with subway territory, station names and train destinations. Working knowledge of the NYCT subway system (4 NYC boroughs) and able to read the subway map
  • Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • This position requires prolonged walking and standing
Prior experience & qualifications
  • The station counters will travel throughout the NYCT subway system counting the assigned stations during that shift. The number of stations assigned do not exceed five per shift/route
