Similar to the program New York State is currently offering, New Jersey Department of Labor has set up a hotline for NJ residents interested in a temporary disaster relief job. Those interested can call the NJ DOL hotline at (877) 682-6238 or email them at sandyhelp@dol.nj.state.us.
Eligibility criteria is similar that offered by New York State's program:
- Workers who have been temporarily or permanently dislocated as a result of the disaster;
- Eligible dislocated workers who are unemployed and not receiving unemployment compensation (UI) or other types of income support (such as WorkFirst NJ);
- Individuals who are long-term unemployed.
